Planetologist - lo and behold, as if by magic, and what are the chances...but when I got into work there was a box on the side...and inside it were some Dioscorea batata. So I've asked the lady whose box it was and for a small donation, I've cadged some for you.
Yeah, that's really great. Many thanks, and to everybody else as well for the beautifull seeds.
See now I'm all embarrassed but also I'm like a kid in a sweetie shop. Today I received a parcel from this seed circle but I didn't contribute as my seeds have went AWOL. So mega thank you to Zaz for posting out the seeds (at her own cost) but also another mega thank you to all of the contributors of the seed circle.
Oops confession time ........ the squash seeds that I thought were golden hubbard seem to be Sucrette that I grew with HSL seeds.. Found the label today when on the lottie. They were the only ones that survived the weather and slugs so hope that they are viable .
Be warned they ramble a long, long way .........
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
Anyone else finding the Black Icicle plants incredibly vigorous? Most of my half dozen plants are at least a third bigger than the others sown at the same time!
Well, my black icicle toms were in the second batch of toms started and so weren't sown until mid march. They have had it tough, been in the greenhouse for 3 weeks ( under fleece at night) they are just a little taller but are more spindly and droopy looking than my other toms that were sown at that time.

Glad yours are doing well, they do make strong growing plants. Last year I let a couple of mine grow with two main stems, a bit mad but a big crop.
Spot on Scarlet, Black Icicle have that wispy type leaf growth that makes them look like they need a drink.
