I'm really not that bothered about Moneymaker, or Gardener's Delight. I'm already swamped with seeds for both of those varieties, and wouldn't grow either. Again, I don't mean to offend anyone, but that's how it is.
I also am going to struggle to find enough seeds for all the people who are already in the circle, I haven't got a single ripe tomato yet, so I may have to back out of the whole thing. Just praying for a long, mild autumn

Sorry if I missed a few posts, but have had staffing probs at work, I will try to catch up over the next week or so

This is only the 3rd year of circles; we did 1, 2 years ago, a few last year and there are this years. I appreciate that everyone has to start somewhere but perhaps use the GD and MM to swap for seeds initially on a 1-2-1 basis and join a circle next year?

I'm not putting a poll up - there really is no need. We may well have to combine all the circles this year after all, due to the pants year that it's been as numbers are so low. If I do a poll, it will be on that in about a month to see what people want to do.

Quick heads up, might be switching my Green Velvet to something else. They don't seem to be doing much while other variates are steaming ahead

I've got a jar of Hahnstown Yellow and a jar of Kibits Ukraine fermenting for seed. Not been to most prolific, but I should have enough for the seed circle.

              Anyway so far so good.

First batch of Latah fermented, dried and bagged up.
I use a mozarella tub for 3 days, then rinse off and spread the seeds on a plate covering with kitchen tissue, when dried I pick the seeds off of the tissue and leave them to dry some more.then I put the seed packet into a jar with boiled rice to dry some more.

While uplaoding some pics for the vine show, thought I might as well put up a pic of some Kibits Ukraine toms that I took the seeds from. They're about 2ins long.

Also it's getting to the stage when all my tomatoes will be needed for seeds, rather than being eaten if we carry on adding people, cos some of them are not setting huge amounts of toms. So we may need to reduce the number of seed supplied to each swapper at the end, as zaz said
I have to say most gardeners start with these two and agree that most of the swappers are looking for something a little different/or a variety that they haven't tried. I already have seeds for both and I expect most of the others that are already in the swap also have them in the bottom of their seed box.

                    • Sad to report that I only have a few Matina setting - and they are a long way off ripening. But I remain optimistic. The plants are looking healthy and no sign of blight (fingers firmly crossed).
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

                      • Have started my stash of seeds ........
re the comment on needing toms to eat rather than saving the seeds .......well you can have your toms and eat them . I cut mine in half and scoop out the seeds before they go in the oven to be roasted .

                        • You can do that, but a lot of the flavour is in the gel around the seeds

I'll do my best, but dunno how many there will be - looking at the plants

It sure aint a good year for toms, even in the greenhouses *shakes head*

                          • Yesterday i saved my first lot of seeds from my 'hundreds and thousands' toms, there were only 3 toms ready, but they had alot of seeds in them, and like bins i also ate the skins lol

                            • That's good
Some of the bigger toms don't have many seeds in - some of the cooking toms are nearly seedless

It's all sent to try us - and it does

I know, i have grown plums and beefs a number of years ago and found very little seeds, thats why i chose cherry toms to save seeds from for the circle (as i knew i would have enough).
