  • San Marzano's

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has any info regarding these tomatoes? Also looking for 2-3 seeds as I cannot source anywhere here in South Africa?

    Kind regards

Try this site. http://davesgarden.com/community/tra...PFPID:120088#b There was someone in SA wanting to trade seeds in 2011. I know it's a long shot, but may be worth it.

Still haven't received my seeds from that site Shepp, so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't send them to South Africa.

you never know, these multi nationals do anything for advertising.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I'm sorting out all my seeds and my sowing plan - when's the best time to sow these? The packet says march-may but could I sow earlier in the GH?

Tomatoes don't like it cold. I find they need around 10 degrees to grow although will tolerate a bit lower than that. There is also the issue of light. You could sow earlier in the greenhouse but are you heating it and are you using grow lights? I germinate inside in a propagator, they have a brief spell on the kitchen window sill and then it is in the unheated greenhouse. I find the earliest I can chance sowing is early March. There are some threads on here "Early Tomato sowing thread".
