  • Pumpkin seeds.

    Hi all,

Haven't been on site for a while and certainly never on the seed swap forum, but just thought I would let people know that I have a whole load of pumpkin seeds that I have saved over the last couple of consecutive years.

I am not sure of the variety but they are the ones with a grey skin and orange flesh and I saved them from a pumpkin I was given by an old time grower some time ago. They are very tasty - especially roasted with a bit of butter and olive oil!

I had pretty good success with them last year and I am more than willing to pass some on if anyone wants.

Not sure how to go about getting folks details though, but I am more than happy to post free of charge and an idiot's guide on how to get them to people would be greatly appreciated.

    That's very generous of you

The best way is for people who are interested is to contact you by pm (private message) and then you can discuss details, addresses etc. in private. You could also send some to Veggiechicken who runs the Virtual seed parcel, I'm sure that she can find a way to distribute them and, she can send you something in return if you like.

As chris has mentioned, every pumpkin seed I've saved has ended up being something different. I've stopped saving mine and bought fresh this year.

Did you hand-pollinate and isolate the plants? If not, they're likely to be mongrels, and won't come true to type. Pumpkins are polyamorous

                Hi,

To be honest I did not do anything special with them, just grew them in their own separate bed manure and mushroom compost and I have had a couple of pretty decent ones.
