Hello and welcome. We're abouts in Scotland are you? We are Perthshire. If you store seeds well, in a cold and dark area they tend to grow well past there date.

thanks everybody. lots of good tips and advice. I will, of course, try and germinate what I have, but hubby (for reasons best known tohimself) left ALL my seeds on the conservatory windowsill...hence my belief they may not germinate too well

we also don't have a Wilko (few and far between in Scotland), but we do have LIDL and £shop, so I shall start there.

I was in poundland today. They had a 3 packs for different tomato seeds. Didn't look at the variety but looked quite a good mix from the front of the pack

Hello Connie, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I hope your new greenhouse is well fixed down. Was it a glass one or, what we call, a blowaway plastic one?
Could I ask you to read the Seed Swap rules at http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_76437.html Whether you're swapping seeds or for a stamped addressed envelope the same rules apply - that is, you need to have made 50 posts or more.
To be honest, by the time you've paid for the stamps, you may as well go to Aldi/Lidl or a £shop and buy a few packets of your choice. You can see from earlier posts how cheap they are.

What seeds do you already have, I believe some seeds are better at surviving less than ideal conditions than others. I have seeds from 2010 that were in a skip and I've no idea how they were stored, they germinated fine last year and I hope will do so again this year.
