I'm very sorry to hear that NG. It has happened to me too
If anyone experiences similar problems with swaps not being fulfilled, please contact one of the moderators and we'll see what we can do.

I figured you were referencing Hot Fuzz or Marx.

I have to say it's one of my fav films and I cannot hear (or read) that phrase without the Sanford Neighbourhood Watch repeating it back to me such as this clip!

OH deary me,sorry if some of you was offended by my post,BUT,it has been blown out of prospective, firstly,i am not the offending kind of person, just the opposite,i am a giver of good things,it did read to me like a complaint at having to pay postage,so i felt justified at explaining how it works, nothing less, nothing more,so once again sorry if you were offended,it was certainly not my intention, and Boho,if your referal to repremanding was meant for ME,how wrong you are ,if you all re-read what i did put, plus the emoticons, you will hopefully see where i came from,i think we should ALL be very grown up and start again,,hand held out to be shook,
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

I knew where you were coming from Lottie, having received seeds and plants from you before, just because you, and many others here, like to share their surplus with others, with no expectation of a return swap. Gardeners are like that and we are, at heart, one caring sharing community of gardeners. Long may it remain so

Sorry to hear NG and VC have had trouble with swappers not keeping their promises. There's a bit in the guidance notes that is intended to avoid this: "The member that has been on the Vine the longest is requested to wait until receiving the swap seeds/plants before sending theirs. " I'm surprised this didn't at least protect you, VC, you've been around for ages.

Those of you who have been here for several years may remember that the VSP came into being after some of the Seed parcels (that circulated between members) went missing in transit. We don't know where but a lot of members were disappointed.
To ensure that this did not happen again, the Virtual Seed Parcel was invented, and, because I didn't step back quickly enough, the parcel ended in my lap. If I had realised then, how much work it would entail, not on the seed side but on sorting out grievances, I can assure you, I would have been out the door in a flash.
So can we get on with what we do best, gardening. If you're not happy with the rules, other Forums are available

I have re homed excess seeds through Freecycle. Worked well as it is local enough for people to collect. (then there are the no shows but that's a whole new ball game!)

Thankfully that hasn't happened with any grapes that I have swapped with although it did happen to me last year with another online seed swap. I paid out quite a bit on postage too Im sticking to the VSP in future.

All packaged seeds are dated good until 2017-2018.
Could you please post a list of the seeds you have available, so that if any members wish to take advantage of your kind offer of free seeds they will know exactly what is on available & will then be in a position to contact you via PM regarding postal details for where to send SAE.

Could you then please edit the list as & when members request packets, this will prevent confusion & possible upset if there are more requests than packets available.

I'll wind my neck in! Apologies; it is hard to read tone in text and I took the post as negative to another member, based as you say upon the way the post was read.

                      In the spirit of understanding:

I participated in a private swap prior to realising I had to do 50 posts first, the person that I swapped with had a few comments back that were discouraging to read. Some of those seeds are now in the VSP yet this morning I was under the impression I couldn't send mine in directly as the rules had changed so I've been giving some away to friends and was going to Freecycle the rest as I give items away through this medium already (VC has since kindly set me straight).

I'm a newb here and although in the main I have had a good reception, there is a tone in some threads that presumes newbs (or those who post less) are out to scam the rest which I am sure is not the case. It can be a little bit intimidating to be honest. I try to avoid the more negative comments in the forum generally but felt solidarity warranted a response as the poster was trying to be nice.

Anyways sorry again, I have re-read your post and there is indeed a plethora of smileys in there, handshake accepted with lots of good-will (I tried to put a smiley here but it won't let me)

There is a forum maximum of four smileys in a post, which includes any that are in a quote, so in this ^^ particular post it was already "maxed out" in LD's quoted post

                        Nice "handshake" post BTW

Ah. I'm glad everybody is friends again x it is hard though when you read a post, something simple like 'alright' can be read as 'well, it's all-right', or 'alright! As in huh, charming!' Or 'alright, right-o'. They all, probably read as alright to you, but you know what I mean
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

As this thread has turned into more of a general discussion than the purpose of the original (seed giveaway) post I am closing it, I have copied the salient posts about the original intention into a new thread here .... http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ist_83618.html
