I bit the bullet and got some "Bocking 14" (thanks 2 sheds) and to my suprise got crowns with a good bit of root tuber attached, so cut some off each one and planted them up in pots, hopefully double my plants.
I've only ever propagated comfrey by means of root cutting which just look like a small piece of root about 0.5" diameter. Never heard of it transplanted in the green. Even if the leaves die off I'd not be worried as a teeny bit of root is all that's needed and it's very resilient.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Sat on a windowsill for a few days with plenty of water and they are thriving, just hope the root cutting I took get away. they are outside now in pots awaiting planting.
