  • Tomatillos, THE most under rated fruit on the planet

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post (mods feel free to move) but there are seeds involved so, here it is.

I spent years trying to get hold of tomatillos, for various recipes. Couldn't get any so decided well if I can't buy them I'll just have to grow them. That, in a nutshell, is what introduced me to the pleasure of growing my own food, and the even greater pleasure of cooking with food I'd grown myself.

:-) lucky for me I picked something so easy to grow. And so bloody delicious too.

For the last two years I've been trying to spread the joy of tomatillos. I've harvested seeds (again, lucky it's so easy!), and I've sent seeds to everyone I know who might even just possibly agree to stick them in the ground.

So we started a Facebook group to discuss all things tomatillo, how to grow or how not to, how to cook, recipes and pictures.

I've got hundreds and hundreds of seeds to give away, but a lot of people already signed up for them this year. I'm sure I'll have excess though, so if anyone wants some let me know.

No obligation, if you want seeds just ask. But if you're on Facebook, it'd be great if you joined our group (hey gringo you stole my tomatillo) even just to lurk, but better still to post pics and share recipes.

I find they self seed really easily so I often just dig up and put the plants where I want. A really easy crop.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'm not sure where this belongs so have messaged other mod's for advice, seed swap I think is for members with a finite post count and membership period

Just to clarify, if anyone wants to give seeds away freely, that's OK, however long they've been a member.

The seeds swap criteria of 3 months membership and 50 posts applies to anyone who wants to swap seeds for seeds from the Virtual Seed Parcel.
Any new members who ask for seeds and do not meet the 3 month/50 posts conditions will have their posts removed.
          Hope this is clear
BTW, there are Tomatillo seeds in the VSP too.
