  • Cucurbit Seed Circle 2016

Think positive, this year will be the year of lots of goodies and lots and lots of seeds. Anyone is welcome to join as long as you meet the vine rules by November time.
    http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_76437.html

Save 2 varieties of cucurbit (cues, melon, edible gourd, squash, courgette, luffa and watermelon) and no F1's please with 5-10 seeds per pack.

No pressure, register your interest - and the varieties you fancy saving if you know what you are going to grow. However we all know the best intended plans can go wrong, so do not panic

Come November I will ask for a shout out of who is still in. So we can get an idea of packs needed. Pm me for an address when you are ready to send in. Please send with stamps for return postage no later than the 14th Jan. (Unless there is good cause and everyone is ok about it)

Tips here for seed saving :How To Save Your Own Seed at Home or feel free to ask http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...-qs_88125.html

Please note these plants will cross easily within their own little families, so isolation is important. Don't let this put you off as all you need is some fancy favour bags and you will soon find yourself running round the patch waiting for flowers and then playing the dating game with them Be warned - it is addictive

    1. NG - Watermelon - Red Seeded Citron, Squash - Tuffy Sweet, Melon - TBC and Cue -
    Boothby Blonde.
    2. Lisabolt - Squash-spaghetti, courgette-?, ?melon.
    3. Zelenina -

I will try and do Spaghetti squash, type of courgette and maybe some type of melon, def a maybe on the melon.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Not sure what you mean about removing your post later, Elfeda, but we'll leave it here and remove your name from those who are taking part in the Circles. If you decide later that you want to be part of it, we can add your name then.

I'd like to join you, NG. I could have cukes, melons or watermelons, but squash are more reliable here for getting to seed stage. And I'm going to try quite a few maxima squashes this year because I think I prefer their taste. So maybe Blue Kuri, Grey Queen, Strawberry Crown, Hungarian Blue or Australian Blue. Or maybe something else.

Unfortunately due to me/plants/weather being rubbish I am unable to do this circle this year. Sorry

If a Mod could please close this thread.

As requested, the thread is closed and there will be NO Cucurbit Seed Circle this year.
Hope the weather and plants do better next year.
Thanks NG for setting it up
