How deep and how far apart did you stick them again? You could have a gentle poke about to see if anything is happening under there...

The only other things I can think of if all else is equal, other that they are being slow, is that either they have been too wet, or that they have been munched by voles.

Voles do like corms for breakfast/lunch/dinner/all-you-can-eat-buffet. All fingers crossed that this is not the case and they are just tardy.

I'm sorry sparrow, I've just jumped to the last page of this thread.
Did you cover saffron growing on your fab 'mud and gluts' site ?
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

          Yep, certainly do - https://mudandgluts.com/a-crop-less-ordinary/saffron/

It needs some tweaking, which it'll get once that harvest is over & dried & weighed.

I had no idea voles could be so bad, but they ate an awful lot of the corms in builders bags at the Croydon saffron farm. All they leave are corm shells.

              I have one in flower.

I am right chuffed although OH was a little dismissive.
He said that everything I plant grows 'cos it is too frightened of me not to grow.

He is a little miffed at me this year as he has had so many tries to get lettuce growing and couldn't. He had to rely on me to do it.

              May be he is right.

I've so far only had one flower from the same batch - I did say they probably wouldn't flower this year though. If we feed them this month (along with the ones that flower) they should bulk up for next year.

I have had about three flowers so far My question is, should I pick the whole flower or just the saffron threads and leave the flower to die back the way I would with daffodils?

No flowers so far so it looks like it's just greenery this year. Fingers crossed for next year.
