  • Piglet Willies French black toms - swap or send SAE

I mnaged to grow quite a few of these this year so will have spares to swap or send.

Happy to swap for any orange beefsteak [ I cannot find my seeds, and I just remember them as being fabulous tasting] or any Black Plum tomato.

Also happy to send for SAE's. PM me.

You could join the tomato seed circle Taff if you've got another variety to go with it?

TAFF! How lovely to see you! I grew quite a few of the varieties you sent me when I was new on the vine - this year it was Brad's Black Heart and Green Velvet I don't think you sent me an orange beefsteak but I'll look in my list - do you happen to remember its name? It's awful to lose a favourite variety.

PS. and I agree, it would be great to have you in the tomato circle

I grow the Piglet Black ones, they're quite late but really really tasty. Totally recommend them.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I just got a garden again, my own, all mine to play in since the Mr does not do gardening at all except to move heavy objects for me [how very girly of me ] hence the saving seeds again.

I just replied on the other thread before I saw this.....I have no idea what the orange one was, I grew it when I had the polytunnel and even then I think it was an accidental seed in something else, because I had white and yellow beefsteaks that I deliberately sowed.....Happy accident probably
Ooo, I remember the Green Velvet, they're really nice too, BBHeart I haven't grown this year, I think because I mixed them up with something else, so I'll have to do a scattergun approach sow, and wait and see what they grow like

Is this Piglet Willie as in our PW? Is he still here? Yaaay, if so - we have rugby to discuss.

Yes it is him and he does pop in now and again but I think the seeds are from years ago, I've definitely been growing them about 5 or 6 years now, I think.

I'm not into coat colour genetics in tomatoes so I don't know whether white and yellow parents could have orange offspring but somehow I doubt it... "Charlie's Green" has had mostly orange offspring in Bohl's PSA which he greatly praises for its productivity and early maturity.

There don't seem to be a lot of orange beefsteaks, but a short search in my archive came up with "Apelsin", "Aucuba" , "Carobetta", "Caro Rich", "Giant Orange", "Golden Ponderosa", "Hurma (=Churma)", "Jaffa", "John's Big Orange", "Kellog's Breakfast (=KBX)", "Nebraska Wedding", "Orange Heart", "Orange Strawberry", "Orange Heirloom", "Ruffled Orange", "Schellenberg's Favorite", and "Verna Orange". Does any of these names ring a bell?

At the moment, KBX is in the Virtual Seed Parcel, btw.

Taff, I've just spotted some Russian Lemon tomato seeds that you sent to the VSP 04/12.
                          Are these the ones?
