Greenhouse foundations

Hi

When we moved to our new house, I inherited a greenhouse; this greenhouse is seated on wood which is, in turn, screwed onto a concrete wall which runs around the greenhouse. The wood is starting to rot so my question to the forum is: do I remove the wood and bolt the greenhouse directly to the underlying wall or do I replace the wood.

I am no expert, but the greenhouse I got with my current house, and the one which came with my allotment, are both screwed directly to their brick /concrete bases.

However, I suspect either would work, and potentially some advantages to wood if your concrete base is a bit uneven, you want a bit extra head height or something to pin fleece to in winter for putting double layer inslation on your winter salads??

Into the concrete will be fine unless it's very uneven and hence previous owner's use of wood too..

You may be able to replace the wood without taking down and moving house. Going to be a much easier & faster job.

If it is a dwarf wall you may run into problems with the door.

Bit more flexibility using wood as its obviously easier to get screws in and out of it - bolting to a concrete base will work fine, but if you want to move stuff in a few years time its likely the bolts will have rusted solid by then so would need an angle grinder to cut them out - so it depends on whether you want to make future choice easier.
