Choosing my greenhouse

I am in the very early stages of choosing a greenhouse.

I think I want an 8x6ft with toughened glass.

I am looking at the Halls greenhouses.

Are they pretty good?

Any others within a similar price bracket of £500 to recommend?

Exciting. I got an elite craftsman a couple of years ago. It 10x6 so not sure if it would be in your budget. Really happy with it.

Toughened glass is the expensive expensive option but will wear very well... I bought one as I had little boys that loved footballs and didn't want the worry. It is also in a very windy spot so I was worried about the wind blowing panes out etc...
I have a Rhino - it was an investment but it was well worth the money.

Agree about the toughened glass. My son plays football on the grass right next to my greenhouse so it was a requirement for me. Also there are trees right behind it so seemed a sensible idea. The other thing that’s really important when choosing one is to make sure you have enough ventilation. We went for two vents and a Louvre. One of their vents and the Louvre opened by themselves when it gets hot which was useful for us when we are at work

Safe to say that if you enjoy gardening and have some time available, then whatever size GH you get you'll be wishing after a couple of years that you had bought a a larger one - just eyeing up my 6m x 3m poly-tunnel wondering whether I fancy the work to extend it :-)

Yes get another one? One greenhouse wasn't enough for me. I would love just a field if greenhouses!

You never have enough GHs or PTs! Believe me, I have 6 GHs and 6 more GH frames and 2 cheapo PTs, neither of which have proper roofs now. I think GH's breed. Once you have 2 they keep on multiplying.

Yes that is the one, it comes with a base. It would be then fitted onto concrete.

We have the occasional football player in the garden at the back of our house and it can get windy in the garden. will look at Rhino - thanks

Mine was a present - the one and only time my OH has gifted me something that I really wanted he loves bikes, so I've always been gifted cycling things!!

I'm in a windy site. Ive a concrete, trench with the greenhouse screwed into that. My second GH with horti glass is sat on concrete with bricks on top and the greenhouse is screwed into that. This added extra height. Both of them are solid.

But I love the toughness glass option, never had a problem with it my second GH with horti glass has had several panes break and once one is gone it needs to be replaced quick as the wind can get in and blow several more.
