  • Pea and Sweetcorn seedlings cut off at base!

In my greenhouse, I have sown peas and sweetcorn. They have started coming up, but most of them have been cut off at the base! There are no signs of slugs or mice - what could it be? Feeling pretty fed up!

Mice. I’ve got at least one in the potting shed at the minute.

Definitely mice. I took two trays of sunflower seedlings to the plot yesterday and stupidly left them on the ground in the polytunnel. This morning all but three had been decapitated and the seeds dug up.

I agree mice - I have some platforms suspended from the roof of my PT so I can put seedlings at a risky stage up on them until they get a bit bigger and less attractive - trying the same approach for strawberries at the moment, as the mice and voles attack the unripe fruit.
