Growing plants on greenhouse bench

Ok, one side of my greenhouse has pots with tomato plants, the other side had a bench (Collapsible table)
The "bench" is now nearly empty after sowing and growing seedlings on it up until now this season.

I would normally have peppers growing on the greenhouse bench but was too late to sow them.

I need something to sow now, either veg/flowers or herbs to fully utilise the bench.

Basil is a possibility, but you can only eat so much Basil.

I have a couple of squash plants which may be happy trailing over the bench?

I would appreciate any suggestions?

How about a cucumber plant in a black bucket or container, I have only just sown mine, they shouldn't take too long to get going. The squash plants sound good too

Partenon, self-setting courgette grows ok in a biggish pot, although the bits that grew over the edge of the pot did better trailing on the bench than hanging free and I always have a tub of lettuce/rocket on the go, in case the weather trashes the outside stuff.
Grow some oregano or thyme, that'll take fresh herbs through into winter.
You could also grow some dwarf beans if you haven't got many already outside

Thanks Thelma.I have five courgette plants outdoors.I have lettuce and two different thymes outdoors.I have dwarf beans growing outdoors as well. Spring oniosns are a possibility or I could bring my garlic chives indoors.

Carrots & peas,there might be some pepper plants at the nursery?

I've just sown a couple of trays of Peas shoots. Fox gloves and viola- violas are fab in a salad

Aubergines, if you can get hold of some plants. They grow about the same height as peppers.
I keep one bench to dry my garlic and onions on and then store them underneath.

You could collapse your table and grow stuff at ground level.
That's what I do - removing the staging tops in summer and grow tomatoes through the framework.

I can do that with one side of mine as well
The other side is a bodge-job - best not to touch that side

I did that one year - took all the slats out to grow my tomatoes up through the frame work.
My step Dad looked after the chickens one weekend while we were away and used all my slats for kindling.

I'm just removing the last bits of "top" in mine to plant some more tomatoes at ground level.

The toms on the shelf are the Early tomatoes we sowed in January. First toms ripening now.
