Blow away polytunnel

Been thinking about getting a small blow away walk in polytunnel to put on my lawn , just for the overflow from the greenhouse.
Something i could up when i need it and take down when i don't .
Think it would be a good idea or not.

Please help me make up my mind.

The problem I had was not with the cover, but the plastic connectors that join the metal poles together, not much of a wind and they began snapping like twigs, only lasted a couple of weeks. If you have a sheltered spot you may be ok.

That's odd - I've never had a problem with the plastic connectors - it's always been rust on the ends of the metal poles that cause them to crumble for me.

I have tended to buy my blowaways at Wilko and B&M if that helps. I'm not sure if it's possible to exclude water from the joins to make them last longer - I've never bothered enough to try anything.

I find that the covers don't last so long, they deteriorate quickly, but the shelving is great as staging in a greenhouse, or even outside when you're overflowing

I have poles etc about 10 years old, will hopefully be making a cage from them to protect my strawberry bed

I use a smaller one inside my greenhouse that is now in it's 5 th year of use, I do take the cover off once the temperatures are higher and store it and I dismantle the shelves when seedlings are all moved on, it was just the wind outside that smashed my tunnel to bits(it was the one that's about two feet high and about 12 feet long that I had).

Was looking at these yesterday and intend to get one for the back yard to do salad bits this year.

I do have a greenhouse frame over the allotment and the glass panes in the shed however as I'm on warfarin I'm a bit nervous about doing it myself. Will hopefully get some help later in the year with a view of using next year

I bought this one, maybe 4-5 years ago, to keep logs in overwinter. Gradually, its been taken over by garden stuff, usually has the compost bags in it.

Anyway, it did have shelving on one side but it wasn't solid enough for logs.
Think it came from Wilko. Its tethered to the back of the GH and it hasn't moved and stood up the elements well - although it is quite sheltered.. The cover is still intact.
