  • Automatic Window Opener Install

Installed two this morning, think i have done it right they didnt come with any instructions, and ive been left with a few bits left over.

Did i read somewhere to put the pistons in the freezer first, well i haven't done that wil they be set automatically?

are the clips on the right place?
Should i put another r clip on the top between arm, there is space for one?
Also what temps will it be set at?

    thanks.

I have installed some, but a good few years ago. I think you choose where to put the clip depending on the weight of the window. The temperature it opens at is set by the handle that twists.
I'm sure someone else will have better, more up to date advice for you. Can you get instructions off the net?

Unless yours is distinctly more fancy than mine it will require a bit of adjusting as you go to get it opening when you want it to.

I also had bits left over, most of them are fairly generic mounting kits so just depends what you need to mount it on your greenhouse.

The piston also stopped working after one particularly cold winter so it might be a coincidence but I wouldn't stick it in the freezer

edit: A bit further reading online and quite a lot of them say refrigerate before use.

My openers came with the greenhouse, but I understand that most are pre set to open at 20 degrees C.

You’re supposed to chill them to reduce the pressure to allow you to fit it without forcing it. If you managed not to force it you’ll either be ok or the window won’t open far enough.

Hello, they seem to have both gone up and doen okay. Thank you. One is little slower thang the other. I think j may have forced that one a little. Should be fine though cant see it causing any ideas. When they are full close they aren't that snug but neither was the original ones. Think I will invest in another 2 and get all windows auto.

                  hello,

Please see both vents below on closed position

                  .

Please see the on that doesn't close all the way, is there a way to reset this?
I think i may have forced the piston in installation.

Will i get much temp leakage at night if left the same.

stuck it in the fridge and reinstalled with good bit of wd40 so hopefully it will be slick as greased weasel.

Have you got a link to the ones you bought? Are they adjustable types or preset?

On mine there is a black threaded knob that you can turn to adjust the amount of load on the piston so it opens at a lower or higher temperature

These are the ones i got are:

Can you turn the black barrel to adjust the tension?

Im not sure about turning the black barrel it seems sealed and to have no adjustment. Ive removed the it from the fixtures again to retry. However on further inspection once the barrel is removed the spring still doesn't bring the window shut, so i think i may have stretched the spring to far when trying to install, which is right pain as i don'y believe i will be able to fix this with out a new spring. Where would i able to buy spring?
                              Any ideas?
Maybe its best just leave it.

Thanks again for the help all.
