Dobby, I'm sure you already know about Freecycle, but have you given it a try? (I just got rid of a rusty old knackered bike on our local freecycle, I thoroughly recommend it

Our shed must be at least 30yrs old, bone dry, splitting, windows falling out and a patched roof.
I think it's protected by the greenhouse next door although the mice and robins seem to feel at home there!
Patch it up Dobby..isn't that what allotments are about???
Posh stuff should stay at home!!
As soon as you replace it with a newish one, some bit of scum will break into it!

nab some pallets, go to wilcos for nails and reinforce the shed you have got. cost approx £1.

two sides of my shed are now stronger than the original shed thanks to 3 pallets and some nails

We have got a few spare pallets Dobby if you want them...looks like your need is a tiny bit more than ours......
Agree- it's the floor ( and roof ..and sides...and door and window ....) which is important to look after!

I'd love to patch up or build our own shed, to our own design, but the council wont let you have anything other than new or second hand in good condition, they dont like anyone 'doing their own thing' and building anything from scratch, which means we are able to keep whats there or replace with new / second hand, but not build from scratch! Grr!

Nicos, Mr D says Thanks very much, he'll be in touch!

Are allotments not supposed to look like downtown Soweto then?

Check out Freecycle it's brilliant or try ebay, your local advertiser paper , ask around, new sheds are so expensive.
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

Our original shed WAS called the "Soweto shed" as it would have blended in very well indeed there. It was made of many old doors and took up a huge amount of space. Its removal freed up enough room for 3 raised beds and a pond, its replacement sits nicely in a corner and is an 8x6 jobbie that holds our tools.

Dead posh we are as our second plot has another 8x6 shed that is the tea hut c/w stove and cooker and a rear bench seat from an unidentified 1959's car.

With regard to sales, try B&Q etc as they sometimes sell off their display jobbies come the winter to make way for new stock / models.
