Oh feel really sorry for you SR. The winds have been horrendous these last few days. My thought is always first for the tunnel, just so sorry that yours has been hit.

Blimey they just look like big plastic bags caught in the wind.

Still the structure looks fairly sound? Anyway I hope you sort it all okay and that the weather stays warmer for you.

That's a nightmare. Mother Nature is one powerful old girl. I hope you can keep the crop ticking over until your new cover is delivered. I know the wind has totally drop in North Yorkshire (well in York anyway), I hope it's done the same up your end.

sorry to here about your troubles , damage to a poly tunnel when your just a novice gardener is bad enough but when it's your living then it's just plain unfair.
hope it can be salvaged and put back in working order .

Sorry to see the damage Rat, hope the crops are OK.

A bit late I know but have you thought of a second set of hoops outside the plastic it might just work.

Blimey that looks rough Rat. I hope the crop can be salvaged. It's bad when an early sowing gets wrecked but you can always do it over agian. With crops like those, you've got a whole season behind them. Best of luck lad.

The morning after the day before

Still blowin a hooley up here though there was no rain. Cleared as much of the tunnel as possible, staked all the plants, dismantled staging, removed hanging baskets, got fed up battling the wind and came home. Some more photos for you.

What a sh*tter Rat, I hope your crops survive. Will you be able to claim off insurance for a new cover? I hope it doesn't make too much of a dent in your business...

Cheers to you all. The wind still hasn't dropped but at least it's not lashing with rain or sleet at the moment. AmazinglyI've only lost three calabrese and one winter lettuce but there's another 5 days before I can use them for my boxes so hopefully the weather will improve this week - though that's not the forecast
Still, sh*t happens. At least the frame is still in one piece, and it's only the cover I need to replace.
Insurance ? Against the weather ? In the Highlands ? You're 'avin a laugh !!
