  • Phew that was close!

Kept meaning to move my cucumber seedlings into the greenhouse, from the conservatory, as it gets much hotter in there and the greenhouse always gets opened as rotine. I then went and forgot to open conservatory when I went out at lunchtime. There were very sorry looking when I got home an hour ago, so I brought them into the kitchen being the coolest room of the house and doused them in water. They have recovered very well thank goodness but how should I treat them now? I was planning to pot on into final pots in the next day or two and they will be housed in the greenhouse.

Give them a couple of days' rest somewhere shady. They should be ok outside in the day now and brought into the greenhouse at night. Let them recover before potting on though.

That's good advice. A couple of weekends ago I was planning on planting out my cabbage, brussels et al. The weather was horrendous, but I had to do something with them! Potted them on into my morrisons containers, 4 to a container - they have settled well, and will leave them for a couple more weeks before I transplant them outside. Bernie aka DDL
