  • which greenhouse? advice needed please

I am hoping here as its a 'special' birthday for me soon and am 'hoping' my children will give me some money that I can put towards a greenhouse !!!

Its for the allotment so guess it will have to be polycarbonate just in case. Size wise I guess 8 x 6 and price wise around £300 if thats at all possible, I have never owned or know anyone that has a green house so dont really know what to look for. Just had a quick google but the ones I saw started at £500 for a small one but know there are cheaper ones but not sure what they are like. I would like a more expensive one obviuosly but as its at the alottment and with possible vandals its not worth me buying a premium one so advice on the cheaper end please and any brands to have/not have would be appreciated. Also would they be delivered to the allotment or home? if home I then have to find a way to get it to the site?

As it's for your allotment have you considered LOOT free ads paper?

I got a greenhouse for my lottie, 10x8 high apex. It's a bit rough but very honest (not unlike me). It cost me £50

I honestly couldn't justify spending serious money on one because we do get the odd brick thrower visiting our site, but it's been fantastic so far and touch wood no broken panes yet.

Glass houses are cheaper than polycarbonate, freecycle and loot are good places to look, as are the little notices at the local chippy!

Consider also what is called a potting shed - a shed with a bulgy-out side, glassed from mid-height to eaves. Gives you somewhere to store a few things.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

We bought a decent greenhouse last year from these people 'ukgreenhousesales' and it's performed pretty well despite having put up with some horrendous weather since it was erected !
It's a Gardman one. We fitted a louvre vent and added staging down one side and it cost £325 in total and I notice they're now a little bit cheaper !

Probably just my suspicious nature (and a few years experience on here) but usually when someone's first post revives a 3 year-old thread and contains links to a sales website, it means that they are sneakily trying to advertise said website.... So for that reason, I'm editing out the links in your post 'In the garden'.

ETA: And a further 3 posts, all with links, gets you the ban
