We've had the same problem- we've learnt from our mistakes - initially we took our glass in and out 4 times.

    These are our tips:

    1. Stand all the glass by sizes in piles.
    2. The largest glass always goes at the bottom.
    3. Put bottom first row in then go onto the second row working your way up the top.
The smallest pieces of glass go at the top.

My Dad said as long as the all fit it doesnt really matter what sizes go where! which is true to a certain extent.

Oh another tip dont use the original glazing clips that are rusty you'll end up with very sore fingers buy some news ones they are a lot more flexible.

agree with NSB, but can i add that if you leave the cross braces loose until you have glazed it, it doesn't then matter if things are not exactly square (you still have to get them there or there abouts) then tighten up later.
