  • It's finally up!

Yay, OH finally finished the greenhouse - it has taken him about 3 weeks (evenings when kids are in bed). It's a 12x6 ploycarb and has been put on a slab base, laid by some big men the other week and bolted to it.
I have taken the plastic wilkos one down and put the shelves in the new one, ordered some more staging and have moved the plants in. They were quite exposed in the old one as the plastic zips broke and it was all flappy.

Just need to get the guttering on it so I can have another water butt.

We have had really strong winds here today and it hassn't moved an inch (keep fingers crossed).

I hope to grow direct in the ground eventually but it's full of weeds at the mo. Is it best to use growbags this year and cover the weeds with plastic and tackle it in the autumn? Or weedkiller it? How long before I could plant in the ground after that?

    Thanks janeyo

Nice one Janeyo. As for the floor, take your pick. The floor in mine is 4" of gravel, so I have to use growbags. The problem with growing in a soil floor inside a greenhouse is feeding and watering, then turfing out the old stuff and replacing it when you have to.
As for weedkiller, Glyphosate will have it dead in 3 to 4 weeks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it and if you ain't going to eat it, don't kill it
