This is my first season of greenhouse gardening and my first visit to this forum. I live in South Dorset by the coast so the weather is never really cold and wondered if I could grow plants like winter lettuce in the cold greenhouse over the winter months or anythng else that I could harvest through the winter. Any ideas or advice will be gratefully received.

Welcome to the vine snail, you will be able to grow winter lettuces indoors as we grow them outdoors up here where it is a lot colder , You could also plant other thing such as second cropping potatoes ( will need to be indoors but could go outside) and overwintering onions which can go outdoors

Welcome to the vine Snail.... I like your name . Together we can wreak some havoc round here!!
I don't have a green house, so I'm not the best person to comment here, but I had some Bok Choi out in the garden late last year (although it's more of a late autumn/early winter cropper). I also had baby turnips that I was able to harvest quite late in the year (except the ones that the slugs chomped to bits).
I also sowed overwintering onions, but they're not for harvesting over the winter, so I'm not sure if that's of interest to you...
All the best with it anyway!

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm sure I will gain much useful knowledge from this forum. I have very limited garden space for growing and do most of my other crops (those not in the greenhouse) in tubs etc. Do the potato tubs work well? I would like to grow as many diverse things as I can in the limited space I have available. Once again thanks for the replies. The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.

Would of thought in dorset if you plant now you would get great pots for x-mas, even without greenhouse, we manage it in the micro pennines climate quite well outdoors, cold, wet, yorkshire weather, bin bags do well if your short on space.Yo an' Bob
