DIY growhouse / planter tips?

I've not got enough room in my garden for a greenhouse and was contemplating getting a few growhouses.

Not got a lot of money so was thinking about trying to build one from some free wood/broken openbacked bookcases or the like from the tip/freecycle. Also want to give a go at building a planter with some support for a grapevine and was hoping people here might have some tips on constructing either item.

The only problem with wooden planters is they rot, a better idea would be to buy a plastic tub from the pound shop ( fairly big )and then build a wooden box for ir to sit in so the lip of the tub sit on the top of the box and then you can keep it clear of the ground and help drainage.

As to the support, make it out of tilers laths (either 1" x 1" or 2" x 1" ) as this is already pressure treated so you only need to stain it whatever colour you want.

I would guess there are loads of plans on the net to wet your appetite but another source might be the golden cockerel series of books as I'm sure there is one in the series for the garden
