  • Am I doing this "right"?

As an experiment I sowed some seeds a couple of weeks ago and apart from the lettuce they all did really really well. As a result I have just planted into some tubs (that I grow my toms in during the summer) some carrots, swede, leeks, beetroot and just 3 lettuce

I thought I might plant the parsnips outside but wondered how long I should leave them to harden off?

Would I have been better planting any of the crops I planted into the greenhouse outside?

I have a spare tub - is it worth sowing some lettuce? or what else could I try?

I have got spare swede left over which I wondered about planting outside too?

The plot is bare except my bolted brussels so what could I do with the spare ground until the spring?

I know there probally isnt a right or wrong to anything I have done, I would just appreciate your opinions.

    Thanks

    Tammy

when i get round to getting some compost, i'm gonna plant some tomatoes, and a few other things and stick them under the grow light in the boiler cupboard ..... anyway, i'm of the opinion if they grow it's been worth it, if they dont then it's just a few seeds

Personally I'd have done this in August. But I live in the frozen "half way to north". Can't think of much I could sow now that would get going. Except a few tough salad things in the greenhouse, some garlic and some suitable broadies. Maybe I don't have enough imagination? Any road up, let us know how it goes Tammy.

Flumm - I alway seem to either be too early or too late when I do my seeds! I look upon it as "at least I try"!!! Or as Lynda says "only a few seeds"!!

Lettuce ashould do allright for you Finedon and you could try some pea shoots. Just plant the peas shoulder to shoulder in a pot and eat the shoots in salad They taste just like fresh peas. You can cut the shoots a couple of times before they give in.
