Tunnel nearly a goner - again

Went out yesterday to find a 12" slit in the cover at one end - by the time I cam back after getting some duct tape, it was 36" long. I managed to tape it - not easy in gusts of 50mph, then nailed a batten on the outside to the wooden batten on the inside then nailed two pallets to that to stop the plastic flapping.
What has happened is that in the week of gales we have had, the end hoop has been battered mercilessly and appears to have moved off the vertical, thereby loosening the plastic cover on one end. This has been battered by the winds and flapping about so much that one of the creases has seen fit to split.
More gales forecast, so all I can do is hope and pray that everything holds until I can effect a more permanent repair - if we get a dry still day between now and next year

It's a bit windy pops by the sounds of it...fingers crossed it survives until your dry day.

I look out the window each morning to see if my furniture is still on the decking and not in the canal...and that's bad enough. Dragging furniture out of freezing cold water at 6am, before any boats come along and get punctured is not my idea of a leisurely brekkie...so lashing down split ends in gales sounds awful.

If the snow has stuck- does that mean the winds have dropped for you to be able to pend a bit of time on the tunnel??? ( Not easy with 2 kids I know

This is the far north - just cause it's snowing does not mean the wind has dropped - maybe I should have mentioned the snow is falling just off the horizontal !!

Is there any way you can brace the end hoop from the inside? Bash it back into place with a block & sledgehammer & put a fence post or summat in to brace it? Or some scaffolding pole in between 1st & 2nd hoop?

Just catching up SR and my commiserations. We had a hurricane here at the beginning of the month with 105 mph measured in Lerwick and we are always about 15 mph worse given we are at the top end of the valley. But thankfully, the polytunnel was ok. When I felt the house moving (and old Manse with 3 feet walls) I though that the greenhouse and tunnel would go, but everything was ok.

We had alot of snow at the weekend, but its all just about gone now. Oh the joys of the north ...........
