  • Aldi Large Walk In Greenhouse

    Hello Folks,

I have been naughty and treated myself to an Aldi Gardenline Large Walk In Greenhouse. It has mixed reviews, mainly about the zip breaking, but with a 3yr guarantee it's a risk I'm prepared to take
Do any of you have one, if so what do you think?

    I'm so excited!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

I have had similar ones, the wind can be a problem, if you can find a quiet spot out of the worst of it, they can give you new options.

Thanks Burnie, I've got a couple of options for where to place it but yes, wind could definitely be a problem where I am too. Have to make sure it's really secured properly.

I had something similar many years ago and after the cover went it morphed into som greenhouse staging then some of the tubes went on one piece so the remander was relegated to a table outside the greenhouse then the wire shelves were re purposed as lids for the Brooders for my chicks ... and the remnants of one is still with me today som 20 years later ... suffice to say I think I got my moneys worth out of it

I had some of the shelving before, may have even had a cover but I can't remember, I still use the shelving in my greenhouse to raise pots off the ground.

I'm using 2 smaller ones inside my big glass house, perfect for early sowings and for hardening off tender plants from the heated propagator, I'm coastal, so it's very windy here most days, with or without the beans.................................parp...................

I've got four of these greenhouses! Not from Aldi but from Argos two autumns ago. Normally around £79 they were reduced to just £20 so I grabbed them! They're still in their boxes in my shed as the past two summers have seen my allotment get a bit neglected but I'm now knocking it back into shape and will be using those greenhouses alongside my 'proper' glass one for tomatoes, cucumbers and melons.

Mine is still in its box to. I need to clear the area for it and have bought big heavy duty ground pegs and rope to go over the top. I'm not risking it blowing away with all my precious plants in!

Same here! Once I've cleared and dug over our allotment we can work out where stuff is going and then get the greenhouses built up. Hubby Neil is one of those people who kinda overdoes a job so wherever we DO decide to put these plastic greenhouses they will not be blowing away anytime soon! He built a cat tree in our living room a few years ago and it could hold MY weight, never mind our chunky cat's!

Whatever you use to secure it, add some more! I had a little Wilko one in 2018 for tomatoes, and we had to rescue it more than once. I also found that the plastic ripped easily in the wind. I did grow some fine tomatoes though!

I have finally got round to putting up my greenhouse. It's so good and bigger than I realised.

Now my next question is because the cover is green, I'm assuming the light quality will be much less than my little glass greenhouse, so what should prioritize for my glass one and what can handle being in the Aldi one with less light.
I have, cucumbers, aubergines, peppers, chillies and tomatoes.
                          Thank you

We have a green tunnel and a glass greenhouse. For us toms and cukes are good in the tunnel, peppers and chillies not bad (but better in the greenhouse), aubs definitely better in the greenhouse.
