I'm surprised nobody has mentioned sowing peas in a length of plastic guttering filled with compost and closed at both ends.

The peas germinate earlier in the warmish g'house and you then carefully push/slide the entire contents of the guttering into a pre-dug shallow trench in the garden later in the year e.g. march/april.

I've done it and It works

I never sow peas until Feb. Just think its too early. Not enough daylight. They tend to catch up once theres more daylight and a little bit of warmth.

And your hands begin to harden.

Turnips and spinach now through, so they went out to the greenhouse today, what shall I sow next? I'm thinking lettuce, and ????
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Tunnel went up last October and new baby came in January so not much done last year. We put an old carpet on the entire ground of the tunnel when erected to try and kill off the weeds and stifle the scutch so at the moment I am gradually pulling back the carpet and digging the ground as I go. The carpet seems to have worked reasonably well and i'm finding it fairly easy to remove the scutch & dock roots.

So far I have one 16ftx2ft bed along one side with carrots, red and yellow onions, spinach, garlic and leeks sowed last week in 2 foot sections. Indoors I have 9 mangetout starting to appear on a windowsill and a few Roma tomatoes still in hiding. Hope to have the ground dug by next week and two 8x3 raised beds in the middle with 'Mel's Mix' (Square Foot Gardening guy) and tables along one side to start my seeds in earnest. I can't wait to get started.

My peach tree is in mine. And all the pots of strawbs. And 3 pots of carrots that were meant to be ready for xmas
And some flowers that didn't get planted last autumn. No idea what they are now!

Cold frame is actually warmer than the greenhose and has some lettuce, onions, caulis and some more flowers that again I forgot to deal with last year.

My potted mulberry tree, some perpetual spinach which I'm hoping will come on enough to eat before my tomatoes and chillis go in.
Stubs of the oriental brassicas left over from a failed sowing last year, that the slugs but not me enjoyed.
Spring onions and leeks sown late last year.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Madmax's generator and the BBQ - along with my strawberry plants (which I hope are still alive as I can't get in to water them) and loads of empty pots and my shallots which are waiting for the weather and right time to plant them

Can your magic fairy come and help me clean mine please? lol

No to be honest mine has not really been used for years some of the glass is broken. I need to sort out all the old pots and give them a good clean and have a little bit of a tidy up in there. I did have some salad leaves and some chillis in there last year just to shelter them a bit! I have some red onions and white onions that I sowed late last autumn to be honest I'm surprised they are still going! I have a few radishes and just a little bit of baby salad leaves and a few creepy crawlies!

With a kind offer to help me; one of the Grape on here, hopefully it will be mended b4 the end of Feb! Once that is done I will give it a good clean and get one of those fumigating candles to clear out any bugs!
Then it will be all systems go!

P S I forgot, I have a Thyme plant over wintering under the bench! It was a scraggy thing bought from Tesco last year. It has flourished as the year went on and still going strong!
