Sowing Tomato Seeds

This is my first year growing Tomato plants from seed.

I plan to sow the seeds in a heated propagator at 18C on Feb 1st inside a Greenhouse.

Do I keep the plants inside the propagator with the lid on until the greenhouse proper reaches 18C day and night?

Any advice appreciated.

As soon as the little plants appear, take them out of the propagator or they'll get leggy. I grown mine indoors until it's safe to keep them outside in my unheated greenhouse. This means they are inside at night and outside in the day. I believe the lowest temperature you want to aim for is about 10 degrees. In a heated greenhouse though, they still need to be out of the propagator asasp I reckon. Hope that hasn't made it more confused!

Hi If you sow your seeds now you will need to keep them inside for several weeks until the weather warms up.
The problem is not always how much heat you can give the plants but the poor light when the skies are grey. If you can't give them enough light they get leggy.
If you have a south facing window or a heated greenhouse then you won't have much of a problem.
