Out of All the seeds I've sown the past few weeks I have

    3 x jalapeno seedlings
1 x sweet pointed pepper seedling
and I can see ONE of my tomato seeds showing promise!

I bet they'll all start sprouting at the same time so I'm inundated!
Serene she stand amid the flowers,
And only count lifes sunny hours,
For her dull days do not exist,

I planted my sweet peppers, chillies, aubergines and pepino today.I've got my Elephant Garlic in pots to start. The potatoes are chitting on the windowsills.
Outside the spring onions, walking onions and sweet peas are doing fine - as is the garlic and shallots.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Having just read the entries on this thread, I can't help feeling that either
          a) everybody has a huge heated greenhouse or
          b) a lot of people might find certain crops failing later in the season.
Don't wanna throw cold water on anyone as there's nothing wrong with enthusiasm but please remember, seedling will need to be planted out before they get tooooooo big and it's only February - still winter!
I know I'm further north than most grapes but I can't help thinking that it's too early for things like courgettes regardless of where you are.

You're right about courgettes - and squash, cucumbers, beans etc. These plants get big very quickly and it's too early as they will be enormous before they can go out.
But peppers, chillies and aubergines will be fine on windowsills all their lives - or until they can go to the greenhouse.

On the flower front I have lupins, sweet peas and marigolds all germinating happily, also planted teasels, but they haven't done much yet.
Vegetables I have leeks, peas and cabbages all doing quite well in windowsill propogators, and by Wednesday i hope to have tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers on the go too.
running out of windowsill space now, wondering if I can do a second floor if I use the cooling racks from the kitchen on top of the current windowsill propogators???

I don't sow beans, cucumbers or courgettes until April, even though I have a greenhouse (usually needed for chillies, toms and peppers). They would get too big before it's safe for me to put them out, and I'm in Kent.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

I won't risk the tender stuff yet - they will want to go out too soon, and I've found the later plantings catch up anyway.

I do have broad beans, spring onions, a few caulis and cabbage in there - and a lot of pots of ornamental grass (Carex comans 'Frosted Curls') which I decided needed splitting yesterday and one plant has now turned into 7 large and 12 small ones.....!

I've just started my chilli and tomato seeds germinating on wet kitchen paper under cling film.
One sweet potato sitting in a glass of water too!
Hoping to have a warmer summer this year!!!

Just two varieties of chillies, one sweet pepper and a few herbs. I'm really fighting the bug until I've got the GH finished.

I've got tomatoes - Aisla Craig, Plum, 100's & 1000's, chilli's, lettuces - butter crunch, lollo rosso, funly, new red fire - cucumbers, courgettes (black beauty), parsley, mint, dill, nasturtiums and mixed peppers all going on the window sills.

The tomatoes are at different stages and I've been hardening off the older toms though very cold today so they are back in.

Some lettuces are in window boxes outside, but under plastic bottle cloches. They are not looking great - wonder if I should have kept them in?

The courgettes are looking as if they are ready to go into great big tubs of manure. Problem is I've run out of pots and have no manure!

How big are your window sills???

i'm fast running out of room and i have a whole room to start them off in as i'm still waiting for my green house to arrive....

                              so far i have;

strawberries - plugs (waiting for them to get a bit bigger)
                              beetroot
                              peas - sugar snap
                              peas - Delicata
                              chives
                              basil
                              parsnip - in loo rolls

had some disasters though i used those peat pockets and they held too much water so nothing grew, wont be using them again.

just been through my seeds and today i'm gonna try:
                              carrot - flyaway
                              cucumber
                              tomatoes
                              leeks - in loo rolls

nipping too lottie in a bit to get some beds dug, i'm hoping the plot is big enough for all the veg i have too grow....
