  • A couple of things....

    hiya, hope your all well, just a couple of questions;

    Has any1 successfully grown ginger or sweet potatoes in their polytunnel?

    Ive read a couple of things (dont know if they were tunnel attempts or not) saying that both have been unsuccessful.

    Can i grow them from shop bought roots and tubers?

    Also can anyone give mr any advice on growing sweetcorn in my tunnel?

    I have put in my corn already but nothiing has came up yet, though not in a heated propergator.

    cheers

    I was reading up about growing ginger and it said it needs to be grown indoors so I've decided against it. Not too sure about the rest but this is the best place to ask!

        My comment on sweetcorn is that it needs wind for pollination, so I don't think there is an advantage in growing it in a polytunnel. Sweetcorn will happily grow outside.

        ETA: I chit my sweetcorn on a wet paper towel in the airing cupboard to get germination started then carefully plant into individual pots for planting out when they are well established at about 6-8" tall.

            Can you roll back some of the tunnel when the weather's warmer to get back some outdoors?

              i was filming in a zoo last summer and they grew ginger in the greenhouse for the gorillas to munch on, shop bought and grew very well, the shoots were tasty too!
