  • Standard poly tunnel expectations?

    Hi folks,

I'm keen to get some action underway in the garden-I have windowsills full of trays waiting for stuff to happen when I thought about buying some poly tunnels and getting some stuff underway.

Now am I right in thinking poly tunnels are great for salad leaves, beetroot, spinach etc but when it comes to plants that grow quite tall I'll need to look at other options?

I'd love to harvest some okra, chillies and aubergines this year and from stuff I've been reading all need a lot of cracking weather so thought maybe they could shelter under a poly tunnel. Are my expectations a bit too high? Should I be using poly tunnels to look after small seedlings until the weather perks up?!

Do you mean proper big poly tunnels which you can walk into or the lower cloche type ones?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
