  • Homemade polytunnel/greenhouse

    Hello
I'm new to this forum business so please bear with me! I have read various articles on the web about constructing a polytunnel from water pipe, conduit etc and was wondering if any of you have tried this and if so how succesfull it has been.
I would be looking at maybe one about 10'x6'.
If anyone has constructed a polytunnel/greenhouse from scratch using recycled materials I would be interested in hearing from you.
    Cheers dokleaf11

          polythene for homemade greenhouse/polything

          Hello
Having read your replies (thanks by the way) I have built a wooden frame from old roof timbers, a house down the road is being gutted. It is approx 8'x6' as for covering it do I have to use that UV stabalised stuff I see for polytunnels or can use ordinary polythene? As we use enormous poly bags at work and they are reasonably thick. I understand that sun can make polythene brittle but at least I could change it quite often.
Also I dont intend to grow in the ground but in pots and containers on some homemade benches what do you folks recommend to lay on the floor/ground of the greenhouse/polything?
          Cheers dokleaf11

            my polytunnel

hi me and my OH built this over a week of afternoons. just had to wait for the right weather to put the poly on. we got the idea from 'alans homemade polytunnel'. we customized the idea to use whatever we had to hand or could scrounge. it is 10 x 16 ft. door and vent at both ends. polythene came from ******* who specialise in plastics. delivery was payable but next morning delivery! cost all built and ready to roll £130.00. hope this is useful. more details if needed, good luck.

Looks fantastic - well done. A bargain for that price + your time. How is it anchored down?

The only thing that is clear is where the polythene is from and there is a next day delivery charge. Might be worth a MOD deleting the company until oops can elaborate on the post
