  • Ventalation

    Hi All
I have a new GH and it is mounted on a base of 3" wooden posts on the flat bolted into concreat. In order to get the base level I had to rise the it in 3 corners, with the result that there is a small gap, about 1/2" going to nothing, under the GH where air gets in.
Should I seal this up or should I leave it as a form of ventalation?

If it was me I'd seal it - don't want any little gaps that slugs can slither in through :-)

I would definitely seal it. The added ventilation during summer may be of limited benefit but the potential ingress of cold air in the winter would be a more serious issue.

Definately seal it. Your plants won't thank you for a cold draft in the winter, but unwanted pests will be delighted with such easy access.

You can provide ventilation through a roof vent, louvers (if you have them, or can install them), and even by leaving the door open. I cover mine with netting when open, to deter unwanted visitors!
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.
