  • Blocked Drip Feeders

i have drip feeders and water butt set up in the greenhouse - i refilled the water butt with water from another water butt outside conservatory, but that was kinda dirty - the drip feeder has a filter which was blocked - i've cleaned that, but still no water getting through - think the drippers are blocked up - any ideas how best to clean them out??

I've tried suck and blowing which can unblock them. The Gardena ones come with a yellow plastic needle device which you use to clean the drippers with. I would think any thin needle would do the job too. If not then attach them to the mains water pressure?

I use a needle or a straightened paper clip to clean mine.

needle trick or you will have to blow the dirst out.

I must admit cleaning drippers is a pain.

If you have hard water then try unscrewing the drippers and putting them in a cup of vinegar..... I tend to have to do that a couple of times through the summer....

Tried drippers one year and they are a PAIN and I don't think they are worth the trouble.

                Anyone want a set?

you don't say what the make of drip feeder is. I have tried several different ones from using static tanks to bags on the wall. The big dripper I found a nause as you have to keep setting the rate which can be fiddly. I then got IRISO and they are brill. from a tank or bottle they work fine. they are a bit more on the pricey side but in my opinion very good and easy to maintain. If you are talking seep hose then I recognised the potential problems and stayed well away from that system. also these fancy mains irrigation systems seem very expensive and unless you can monitor them costly. I would go for IRISO I am very happy with them. No I don't work for the company they just work well for me. I geuss what you pay is what you get. good luck everyone.
