I am growing aubergines in the greenhouse for the first time this year and have a question. My plant is large, healthy and vigorous, and is now more than 4 feet high. My gardening book advises not to let the plant develop more than five fruit. My plant already has five flowers open, with one set. I just removed flower number six, but wonder if anyone has let more than five grow on a plant. The plant sure looks like it could handle them, and it is only June.

How many aubergines?
No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, no culture comparable to that of the garden. But though an old man, I am but a young gardener. - Thomas Jeffereson

Beware Greeks bearing gifts, or have you already got a wooden horse?... hehe.

Hmmm, interesting. I am going to let it keep chugging along.
The variety is Florida Highbush, and the fruit is supposed to be enormous.
