  • Grow Bag Watering Advice

Can anyone advise me on how frequently I should be watering aubergines, peppers and tomatoes in grow bags in my greenhouse. On a number of occassions the compost looked moist but the leaves started to wilt, watering them solved the problem. I am concerned about over watering as I know aubergines are sensitive to this. Whats the trick?

    Hi,
I grow my gh veggies in 2ltr ring culture pots in growbags. This helps to improve drainage, root room and i can water around the base of the pot into the growbag which keeps water away from the stalks.
I water when the soil looks dry. I water in the morning and early evening if I have to.
I don't overwater anything, especially cucumbers.
When fruit is forming I water alot more but the soil/plants will tell you how often.

Good ventilation is essential in your GH to guard against diseases such as blossom end rot.
Also, letting your plants dry out then giving them lots of water can cause the fruit to split and ruin.

I also spray inside the GH with a water mister to keep humidity up and to help pollination.

    Hope this helps.

        No probs

Working at a plant nursery, I get loads of tips on growing and ways of doing it as cheaply as possible. I also learn alot from customers who tell us their failures and successes. Having a free supply of plastic pots is also great as we sell ring culture pots at £4.99 a pack
