  • Ive had a very busy day today

We collected our free 6 X 8 greenhouse needs a bit work broken pains the usual stuff but best of all it was free.
Bit bigger than we wanted oringinally we only wanted a 4 x 6 lean to but this one came upand we were not gonna turn it down.
Me and my O/H had been looking around at greenhouses for the last couple of weeks then the O/H remembers her niece has one in her garden that she didnt use quick chat on the phone and the greenhouse was ours.
So this week ive been digging and laying the foundations, aswell as killing two birds, which is now going to be the new lawn we raked and sifted all the chippings out and then washed them in a dust bin getting as much muck off as we could.
As we only have a small garden where to put the greenhouse in the end we both decided we should put it down the side of the house plenty of light during the day but not totally exposed all day so it wont be cooking the plants.
Next the tricky part the gap between the house and walls is 76" just enough room to fit it
So this morning we spent all morning dimantling it (I had the sense to mark certain bits on it so I would remember how it all went back together)
Usual problems taking it apart rusted bolts shearing off ceased bolts but we got there in the end.
Loaded up the the van and carted it all round to our house in two trips lucky for us it was only 2 streets away.
So off I set assembling the base just to check to see if it would fit lucky enough a perfect fit so a big sigh of relief, made a quick note of how many bolts I needed and a quick visit to the garden centre.
Then the fun part of putting it all back to gether a few swear words later and me being daft trying to put a section in upside down it was up.
Funny enough it was quicker putting it together managed to get all assembled today all I need to do now is anchor it down with some more spikes and give the framework a good clean.
Wish me luck ive got to glaze it yet and with tight squeeze that I have I can see me having fun and games and a few more swear word no doubt
Ive decided to do away with the glass on the roof and replace it with twin wall polycarb sheets as the kids round my way can be a little careless with the footballs.
Once its all finnished I will post some piccys so you can see how tight it is lol .
Inside every older man is a younger man thinking what the heck happened

Sounds brilliant, and with luck, the proximity of the wall will act as a storage heater in the cooler evenings and release heat back into he GH.
