  • Damaged Greenhouse

Earlier this year I purchased a walk-in plastic-type greenhouse. Vandals have pushed our wall down and some of the bricks fell down the side of the GH shredding one side of it. It is temporarily held together with gaffer tape as NO-ONE seems to sell separate covers. Anybody any ideas of a good repair. Sunny weather keeps melting the sticky on the tape so not very successful. Thanks grapes.

Some years ago I bought some waterproof tape for mending glass in greenhouses. It looked like thick sellotape. Not sure if it would work for you.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Where did you buy it from?

If it was a recognised chain of shops then you could write or email their head-office with your problem.

Most places have a person who will be glad of a chance to search their warehouse for a cover from one of their returns and often will send it to you free of charge.

Worth a try - if you have such generous faith!

Wilkinsons and Homebase both supply covers for 6 x 4 greenhouses. If you can't find one in your area, let me know and I can go get you one and pop it in the post.

            Damaged Greenhouse

Thanks Shirl. Wilkinsons definitely don't 'cos I rang them yesterday. Don't have a Homebase round here. Anyway, this is a Gardman, and is 190cm x 125cm, roll up vent on the short side, and about 190 cm at it's highest. Just can't seem to get a cover that size of any make, so am very grateful for your offer.

That equates to 6 x 4 feet. Here is the Wilkinsons one - the replacement cover is green if I remember right and about 15 quid. Wilko Walk In Greenhouse with Staging & PE Cover at Wilkinson Plus

D'oh, just remembered, it is not Wilkinson's that has the covers, it is Instore. I can go pick one up tomorrow for you if you don't have an Instore (or Poundstretcher) near you.

Try These people, although they don't have the plastic and tape listed seperately they may be able to organise you a roll of the plastic and some sealing tape.

Got our 4*6 gh from them, service was good and the plastic seems a really good quality.

The local Wyevale is where I got it from, and they are not interested. Told me they never sold them separately. Perhaps I should try their HO first. Thanx for the info.

As mentioned Homebase defiantly sell these (and for this model) I picked one up a couple of weeks ago, although they don’t list it on their website.
Price was about 15 quid IIRC
I know you said no Homebase near you but it’s a solution

What’s the point in being deciduous?
