  • my greenhouse

I'm sat here with a big grin on my face next doors have GIVEN me their greenhouse. They'd already taken out the glass so the 4 of us lifted the frame over our 5 foot wall and for now it'll stay on the lawn until the base's been sorted.

I'm so excited never thought I'd get a greenhouse. I'm off now to clean up the frame, then later I'll read up all the tips on making a base and if to have raised beds or not.

Thanks for the congrats but its gets better while I was scrubbing the frame he shouted over the wall that did I want the staging as well.

Its 6x8 and about 25 year old and some of those rubber strip thingies look like they've perished after reading on here it looks like either being foam strip or silicon, any ideas which are the easiest to use ?

Draught strips for windows which can be bought on a roll is good.

Congrats by the way, great news for you and happy growing.

That's exactly how I got mine, in fact it's exactly the same greenhouse. Isn't it good having nice neighbours

Found out yesterday the greenhouse used to be in our garden but the seller sold it before we viewed the house, mind you I wasn't into gardening then so I would have probably got rid of it anyway.

I spent yesterday afternoon scrubbing the frame to get rid of the moss and stuff next is glass cleaning and those rubber seal things went soft after they'd been in the sun so it looks like they will fit back in.

Hi Dolphin welcome to the vine

I've only been growing toms for 3 years so I'm probably not the best one to answer, but what I do is to re-pot them when I can see some roots growing out the bottom of the pot. Something like into 3, 5 then 7inch pots after that they go in a 10 or 12 inch pot. Then once you've got tiny green toms start feeding with Tomorite or a home feed.

Hope that gives you some idea, but you will get a better answer if you post in the 'New Shoots' thread.
