  • Soggy Tomato

Has anybody got a clue as to my problem??? I have a polytunnel greenhouse 10' x 8' with ventilation etc, in which, among other plants I have 7 Moneymaker variety tomatoes growing in growbags/growpots. All are looking fantastic and over the past week have started to show signs of ripening. however to my dismay tonight when I checked on their progress the first one that had started to turn looked a little strange, so I gently felt the fruit and it just felt like a water filled balloon(which I picked off straight away). should I ease back on watering & feeding or can I expect more of the crop to suffer the same fate?

Roughly how much are you watering and how often, for my greenhouse toms I water between 0.5 - 1.00 lt per plant per day depending on the weather, I feed 2 capfulls (tomorite) to 10lt of water once a week.

Definitely you should ease off the watering when they start to ripen.
