slugs in tunnels?

I was planning to get some enviromesh and hoops and make a tunnel to plant my cabbages in over winter to keep out the pigeons on the allotment. Are slugs a problem in tunnels? Was just wondering whether I need to put a few jam jars with lager in there too?

Slugs get everywhere, as Fiona says. Go for the beer traps, or pellets if you're not against using them. You will also need access to the tunnels for weeding etc.

Agreed. There's plenty in ours - great big fat black ones and tiny little grey / pink things - YUCK! I need to try the beertrap idea but never got round to it.

Do beer traps actually work? nothing seems to work where I live (oxford... very wet place, slug central)

Oh, they work. Emptying them is pretty disgusting though. And you have to replenish the beer regularly and if it rains, obviously that dilutes it (unless undercover obviously) and you to have make sure they're not flush with the ground cause ground beetles go in. We made that mistake. Although I don't think there's enough beer in the world for the slugs in our garden. Bloody things.
