Bubble Wrap ?

I am looking at insulating my new 6 x 8 greenhouse i got for my birthday but the proper agricultural stuff seems to be really expensive, and i just cant afford it at the moment I was just browsing ebay and came across this Bubble Wrap 750mm x 100 M (Small) *ALL BUBBLE REDUCED* on eBay (end time 11-Oct-09 22:00:24 BST) I was wondering if i could get away with using it instead. And if one roll would be enough? I cant work out how much I need Any advice really appreciated. thanks

You could use that. I think you get better insulation properties from the bubblewrap with large bubbles though. Oh, and the agricultural stuff may be UV stabilised (stops it from turning white-ish in the sun) which this stuff for packing won't be.
I have no idea whether one roll is enough though, you'll have to measure from the floor up and round the roof and back down the other side to work out how much you'll need.

Thanks, I will look in to pricing the bigger bubbles and i guess I'll have to get my measuring tape out

If its any help, B&Q sell rolls for �15.98 that measure approx 35cm x 270cm and are made by Gardman.

Thats a lot of money for such a small piece sweetiepea. I got a full roll from local carboot for �20. There was about 50 yards on it.

You can certainly use bubble wrap for insulation for your greenhouse.

A family friend has one of our polytunnels and was wondering whether she should invest in a blind of some sort to cover the net panels in her tunnel doors during winter. But we said: "Why pay for blinds when you can have some of our bubble wrap for free? Just pin it up over winter and throw it away when you want to take it down."

It'll do just the job! Maybe double it up if you want to make sure you get enough insulation.

Why not try "freecycle" I've had lots of things of there, give it a go. I hope this link works for you.
