I have salvaged 6 double glazed window panes from a dry-rot ridden door (the wood has all been disposed of). My boyfriend has offered to make them into one or two coldframes and wondered if anyone has a good design.
I was going to suggest just using bricks; like Snadger has used blocks. If you want them for a permanent structure; then just a good solid wooden frame with good hinges would work.
I don't know if these pics are of any use as I had some polycarb roofing over which I cut to size & just slide in & out of brackets. I appreciate you cannot cut the glass but may give some ides.

Cheers JayJay.....I am planning on using them for sowing but my only concern was whether the seedlings would sweat so one of the beds has the polycarb flush with the bed & two have the polycarb sat on small blocks allowing ventilation. Hope that makes sense. You may be able to advise me.

My deep beds are 4ft square so i made so simple wooden frames and covered them in the see through plastic that my dust extracted wood shavings came in.
The frames then sit on the edges of the bed about 4 inches above the soil. I allowed a ventilation gap around the edge and it worked well.
However i only put plug size plants into these beds as i started everything off from seed either indoors or in the greenhouse.
I think I will have to start a blog or something because I am getting quite into this vegetable growing lark and have new ideas everyday. Not all good though ha ha ha.
You will have to post plenty of pictures to keep me updated.
