a quick question from me on the cleaning of greenhouses.

I planted 2 grapevines in my GH last year and now want to clean it out.

obviously if i use ***** they are gonna die. do i dig them up and pot temporarily - obvously this is only going to work for a year or two cos they will be too big after that?

or is there another solution that folks can suggest?

    many thanks

Last autumn, after the last of the toms, i cleared everything out, washed the benches with ***** and washing up fairy lqud, then put a strong solution of ***** into a pump up pressure sprayer did all the glass and supports ensuring it went between the panes and in the gaps. I closed the g/house and left it for a day. Then i steam cleaned the lot. I also steamed the old tomato compost so i can re-energise it for use in my potato sacks this spring.

            Scottish Newbie,

            NO!

For heavens sake don't dig them up whatever you do! Your GH probably doesn't need cleaning away but if you really think you must, just wipe the glass down with very diluted cheapo kitchen surface cleaner.

Bucket of warm water, with a good squeeze of lemon juice, then clean away.

Last year was the first with my greenhouse which is sited on a concrete base with a drain in the middle.

Grew toms, cucumbers and peppers with various success rates and kept it fairly clean throughout. Floor now looking a little green so was wondering would I really need to J***** or A******** it or would a good scrub through with washing up liquid suffice?

My GH has concrete floor and algae can be a problem 50/50 warm water and bleach will shift it in seconds.
