  • Large Cold Frame/Greenhouse

I have a large cold frame in my veg area, it got battered about in the strong winds on Saturday, was able to fix it back up and do a few replacements in areas that had got ripped and have secured it more to the ground and the fence which it backs on to.

How can I help reduce the wind in the veg area? or help protect the cond frame from further wind damage? I did consider planting a few head height conifers to acts as a windbreak but would this work? Apparently there are more strong winds on the way...

You need a shelter belt of some sort. Something that will filter the wind, as opposed to blocking it.
Hedges are perfect (I've planted a raspberry fedge on my plot, as we aren't allowed hedges or fences)

Thankfully it did'nt budge in last nights strongs winds, I like the idea of a couple of Raspberry/blackberry shrubs possibly infront though instead of conifers, especially as most of the fruit bushes are on sale now!

      Thanks.

As a temporary measure, you can use plastic windbreak netting. It's ugly, but it works!

Not a bad idea though and would only be during the winter (windy months) I suppose... Can also take them camping next year, The windbreaks that is not the Greenhouse!
