      It's ok Sam - I understand you
All these serious maths calculations were going way over my head. Can't help feeling that you're making all this very complicated Ollie, but I expect it will all work out in the end. And please don't forget to post some pics when you've finished so we can see the end result.

If it wasn't complicated, it wouldn't be up for discussion would it OllieComplicatedMartin?

If it wasn't over-complicated and befuddling it wouldn't be a genuine product of Ollietopia Inc!

I'm struggling with whether to buy blue or white net, enviromesh or scaffold stuff

If money isn't a problem get enviromesh,so long as they do it in the size you need

              If not get debris netting

Well my step-dad put together the octagonal centre bracket which will manage the connection of the 8 strutts and I put it together on Monday afternoon.
One thing I hadn't accounted for is the fact that, although the structure can't tilt in any direction, it can twist.
It currently looks like one of these paper hats:

It's also far taller than it needs to be, so I plan on cutting the strutts down to size and hopefully that will manage the twist.
                Pictures to follow.

                  Well it's up and working:

Even screwing the pipes to the centre eight-way bracket didn't stop it twisting so I had to bite the bullet and put a supporting pole in the centre. To be honest I don't think the pipes would have supported the voile with snow or rain on top without it.
The next plan is to connect all the boards around the bottom of the voile so that it can easily be lifted to gain access. It's also succeeded in being easily moved to another bed after the season's rotation.

                    Looking good Ollie

We've been to a camping show today and this reminds me of a tent inner, now if I'd seen this before I went I would have looked out for cheap fibreglass poles.

Doh! That's a genius idea. Probably would have worked out cheaper as well.
I could have just bought an old dome tent and 'A-teamed' it into a suitable size.
                      Perhaps that's next year's project.
