Advise Re. base for wooden house:

Hello all

Any advice would be appreciate before I build a wooden greenhouse I've recently purchased

All the snow and ice has finally gone from my garden in Blackpool and hopefully I'll be able to put the greenhouse up tomorrow, weather permitting.

This is the first full size greenhouse I've owned so any hints or tips would be helpful, I was intending to locate it directly onto paving slabs in my garden but I am concerned this may not be secure enough, I've previously had a walk in plastic greenhouse which was very flimsy and blew over within the first week however I did manage to repair it and carried on using it very successfully for the rest of last year.

The instructions aren't too clear but it indicates the wooden base should be staked into the ground, if I am unable to use the stakes would there be any way of making the greenhouse more secure as we do get a fair bit of wind in Blackpool.

Welcome to the vine Portugal, glad you mentioned that you was in Blackpool as I was wondering why you needed a greenhouse in Portugal. However I too am looking to buy a greenhouse & the link below may be of help to you. Good luck with your decisions.

perhaps make a sleeper base and secure the frame to the sleepers? If it's glass, it will quite heavy once the glass is in.

Wooden Shed Base

I notice this post is a few years old now but never the less i will post a reply as people still read old post and information is always handy .
I notice the Pearson ended up being a cheap basic shed from one of the major online sales web sites .
We are manufactures of mid range , heavy duty timber buildings . Never the less no matter what building you intend to erect , the base is by far one of the most important factors .
If the base is not solid and level eventually any structure cheap or expensive will have problems .

Another vote for sleepers I used 2 one at each end bolted greenhouse to them - then used engineering bricks along the side just laid in the trench every 2 ft . laid membrane adding pebbles and away I went.
