I've been using two parasene cold frame heaters inside a plastic greenhouse inside the glass greenhouse. Earlier this week I refilled the paraffin container at the local hardware shop (cheaper than large diy chain by £2) and topped up the heaters. I've started to see a large build up of soot inside the grill above the flame at the top of the heater. Can anyone explain why? Is the cheaper paraffin just not suitable for this type of heater?
I've brought the seedlings (just visible after 10 ish days) into the house overnight and will clean the heaters tomorrow and refill with the more expensive paraffin, but I'm puzzled as to why this should have happened.
Thanks.
